No time, just Football

Sorry, no time to post today, but there is a recap of how I ended up with my fantasy football team over on my sports site if you are interested in that sort of thing. Otherwise, maybe tonight.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my lovely wife Tanya or as you in blogland know her as Mactastic...something...something. Tanya is my first love, my best friend, my greatest teacher and most valued ally. We share our faith and our lives and our boys and I am blessed to have spent yet another year with her. We have both known each other for most of our lives and as I have commented about in previous posts, my wife just keeps getting better with age. I love this day because it is the day my soulmate was born, it is a day to celebrate my favorite person and most importantly, it is the day that my wife is once again 2 whole years older than me which allows me to get more mileage out of all the "old" jokes. Happy Birthday Ms. Mactastic Flava. Here's to many more.

Posting via email

This is mostly to test to see if I figured out how to post something to my blog via email and also to let you know that there are new posts to both my sports blog and my entertainment blog (links to your left) if you are interested.

Mosquitoes, Turlock, Duncan MacLeod and more

I sort of like the current events prologue to the continuing saga of my backpacking trip, so we’ll keep that going for a while. My wife turns 29 again this coming week and I’m beginning to become suspicious. I may or may not have unwittingly become a huge fan of the campy TV series Highlander back when I was in law school. It was a spin-off of the Movies which were, contrary to Ricky Bobby’s assertion, not the best movies of all time. Both the show and the movies were premised on the idea that there are immortals living among us that don’t age past adulthood and can’t be killed unless you cut off their heads. It sounds like a pretty good gig until you consider some of the downsides which include: 1. every time one immortal kills another he gains that other immortal’s “power” making him that much harder to kill the next time. As it turns out this provides more than enough incentive for all the immortals to want to kill each other. Plus, they all believe that in the en...

What's going on.

So far, I seem to be in a 2-3 blog post a week rut. I have to stop letting things like work and sleep interfere so much. Cut me some slack. I’m working on it. Thank you to Jennifer Davis for the instructions on how to post to my blog via email. This new information could have disastrous consequences for every aspect of my professional and social life, but it seems really fun. Before we get to the continuing saga of my backpacking trip and since you asked, let me tell you some of what’s going on in my life. 1. Gibson, my oldest son, will start first grade this year after his over-achieving, over-bearing, over-pressuring parents forced him to skip kindergarten and move right to first grade. Everyone associated with the educational process who have never met our son have been good enough to share with me that, notwithstanding the fact that 3 days keep Gibson from automatically entering first grade this year (Gibson will turn 6 on Sept. 3 which means he can...

Look Ma, No Wires

I just have to post one more thing tonight since I'm so gleeful about it. After literally months of on and off (mostly off) work on trying to set up a wireless network at home, I finally got it working. In fact, I'm sitting watching TV in my living room posting this on my laptop which may not sound like much, but it is a serious victory in my world. Since I have my tv hooked up to a computer, I can now switch back and forth between the game and the stats for the game without leaving my recliner. I'm not sure this meets the dictionary definition of nirvana, but it can't be that far off.

Backpacking Day 2

First, go check out the post and comments at www.gregengland.com called “You Make the Call.” Very interesting and I’m interested to hear your take. Second, my law firm took 5 years off my life today when it appeared they had changed our firm's internet policy and were blocking 80 percent of our web access (including all blogs) and would give us time limit to use the rest. It appears now that this may have all been a terrible mistake, but my heart has already suffered the damage. Nevertheless, if I can’t update this blog while spending hours on phone conference meetings, my short lived blogging career could be in serious jeopardy. Third, here is the continuing report on my backpacking trip: The night before we left on our trip my Dad informed me that there were large forest fires burning out of control near where we were planning to hike and camp. It was impossible to get an accurate report on how near or whether the area would be closed, or engulfed in flames, so we decided to...

Hello Again

I’m back. Back from backpacking, back from my strenuous legal conference on Waikiki Beach and back in front of my computer where my Blog is always calling. I’ve got all this stuff now built up in my brain that I need to get out on my Blog, I’m having overload. Pretty soon I’m going to get back to ranting and raving about anything and everything to my Wife every night and that is just not good for a marriage. So, I’m hoping I can find the time to actually post something here. I would have posted some great post here today, but instead I decided to write a review for Talladega Nights over on my Entertainment Blog , since I just saw it and it was on my mind. If you think you might like to see the movie, or if you have always wondered precisely what I think of Ben Stiller’s career (you know you have) check out the review. Since I’ve been traveling a bunch lately, I want to post some stuff about my trips, but I don’t have any more time now and want to get this posted, so instead I will...
