Just a quick post to let you know that there will be a memorial service for my Dad on Sunday, March 15 at 4:00 pm at Westside Church of Christ. All are welcome. We appreciate your prayers.
We'll be there in spirit as you celebrate your Dad's life.

Dear Josh -
You and your family have my deepest condolences in the death of your dad. I lost my dad to liver cancer several years ago (it was caused by a bad blood transfusion when he had had by-pass surgery).
Like with your dad, mine was at home and I was there with him and my mom when he died and it was a tremendous blessing for us to be there together.
My heart, love and prayers go out to you all in this time of change in your family. Your dad is now asleep with God watching over him until the Resurrection of us all.
Josh, you did an excellent job at the memorial yesterday. I really liked your comments about the trust fund and hope that you'll consider posting it (or at least excerpts) here for those who couldn't attend (and those of us who did). Peace and blessings to your family this week and always!
My prayers were there for you, but they are still there today. The next few weeks and months will be tough, brother, so the prayers will be lifted up now more than ever. How great is our God!
Josh, you did an amazing job at the service. What you said really made an impact on us, especially Clint. It was a blessing to be there with your family. We will continue to pray for you all.
So sorry to hear about your dad, though we do rejoice in the promises of our REAL life in our forever home. I've not been by your blog in a while so I'm just now (3/18) learning of your dad's death. Even from what little I know about him, it must have been quite a celebration of God's love and grace!!
I’m in beautiful Medford, Or this week taking depositions. More on that in a moment. City snobs like me from the “big city” up in Portland often look down our noses at the smaller, less urbanely refined towns and cities in our fair state and their inhabitants. The thing is, you actually have to put some effort into finding a really crummy part of Oregon. They’re out there (I will not name names), but they are pretty rare and Medford isn’t one of them. Sure it sounds like they named the town after a muppet and sure it doesn’t have quite the charm or outside appeal of neighboring Ashland, but Medford’s a pretty nice town. Beautiful surrounding area, state of the art medical facilities, enough “city” to have some good places to eat and shop, but small enough to still have some quaint charm. Overall, it’s pretty nice and certainly not a bad place to spend a few days, or raise a family or ride an ATV while shooting varmints with a hand gun…or so I’m told. My point is, I like Medford....
My oldest starts in his first official hoops league next month. They had evaluations last week. It was a great Dad moment that I feel like sharing in the off chance I haven’t already told you this story. ( WARNING : this post contains obnoxious parental bragging. Some content may not be suitable for nonrelatives). A friend at work recommended that we try the “Upwards” basketball league for my 7 year old son. (Warnings about using the names of young children on the internet have led me to decide not to refer to my kids by name anymore so I’m going with G1 and G2 from now on.). Upwards is apparently a national Christian basketball league. It was described as very positive and well organized and for kids sports leagues, that is music to parents’ ears. Last week I took G1 in to get measured for a uniform and to do evaluations. Every kid in the league goes through an evaluation and then the coaches hold a secret draft in an attempt to get the teams as even as possible. The evaluation was ne...
Things I’ve learned while in Phoenix for my CLE/Conference: Getting a seat in the exit row on any flight is always better. It’s just so nice. Why do they even ask you if you want the exit row? Everyone wants the exit row. I mean, some people I guess can’t take on the responsibility, but other than that, we all want them. You (airlines) don’t even have to ask. The sun makes me happy. I tolerate all the rain we get in Oregon OK, but man the sun can be a pick me up. I guess I already knew that but I forget every year at this time. You should never wear brown shoes with a blue suit. Of course I already knew that, but since 2 out of every 3 lawyers here in suits are breaking this fashion rule, I guess I learned that it needs to be said more often. Please, for the love of vanity, stop this now. You can’t stay at the Biltmore and be miserable. Just impossible. I think we should embrace the idea of sending people who are depressed to rehab like we do for drug addicts. We should send them to a ...
